I really enjoy nature and could see how beautiful it is without man getting involved. However I wish I could put a photo of his. I mostly like about his photos that I feel like I was there. The colors he uses is interesting. Some of them were dark and some were light. It all depends on your point of view. However, no matter I love nature and like how he shows the beauty of it all. Even though I could not load his photos. His web site is www.larrysizemore.com. He has varies different picture of nature to landscape.

John Shaw

The one thing that I like the photos by John is the unique color in how bright they are. It is so hidden that there is not even an address for this place. This a place were people have slowly brought back to life. By taken out the non native plant and put in the native ones. There were plants that I never know that they exist like the wild cucumber. The amazing part of the learning about this place is the native plants that have come back on there own. Once the people got rid of the weeds that were growing there. The grow of the native plants were incredible. The one part of this site is the rock that surrounds this area. Even though it tagged it looks great in the area. I think it is great that this being done in this area. This place is in the middle of a housing development and you would not know it is there unless you live near there or part of a class that would visit the place.

Ricon March 16th,2009

This trip was going to be more labor tense then any other trip we have taken in the past. We were able to plant in different region that were assigned to. For my group we had plants that were native to the coast. I was able to only help a little bit with the digging before my back started to hurt and had to stop. It was interesting that students are help this area out. It has been a couple years since the fires destroyed the landscape of region. In only a couple years the plants were growing back and now there will be an area where people can visit and admire the different native plants from the coast, mountains, and desert. This project is still in the starting phase and to see it in the future would be great. Knowing that you are part of the something to help the landscape and to bring back the native plants is great. Right now the land is bare and the plants were just planted. However, I think in a year time, it would be completely different from the time that I went.

Pechanga-March 9th, 2009

When I first got to the location of this trip, it was really cold with the wind blowing. Once all the students got on the shuttled to take us the location. Our first stop was an Oak tree that they have estimated to be 1000's years old. The most fascinating fact that we were told was that Oak trees live to up to 500 years old. We were told to give our first reaction when we say the tree. I thought it was great to see this tree. To see this tree grow the way it grows. The branches that grow to the ground. The one thing that I thought was interesting is that you could not tell the tree was there from the road. You would need to go into an area to see the tree. That from the outside all you see is the leaves and not the tree.
Next we headed to area were only the native students could go to learn what their ancestor did and live. When we arrive at the place you can see different area where the students who take part in the camp during summer. They have a home made pond, made huts that at least one night though out the camp they sleep inside them. They have also constructed a sweat lodge that were able to see but could not go in. They even made home clay pots that the students could leave there or can take home with them.

Tierra Miguel Farms Revisited March 7th, 2009

Going back to the Tierra Miguel Farms during the day has a different feel when taken pictures. I think the lighting was much better. The plants were brighter and were full of color. That day going back there were a group of people who were learning how to take care of fruit trees. Also while I was there I went back to the fields that we went to a couple weeks before. I was there mid morning with the sun very bright. The fruit in the fields had started to grow. It was very small but it was colorful. Overall going back during the day did make a difference when taking pictures.

Sally Mann

Watching this video about Sally Mann and her photography about death is interesting. You would have never thought death could look like this and be wonderful. The way she does her photography is was make the pictures about death come alive. You almost feel calm looking at the pictures and wonder what live the people must of had. Taking pictures the way she does with the old style of not moving until the expose is just right. This is the way they used to do this in the old early time of taking pictures. Death is a way to express the way of feeling and wonder. I would have never thought death could be beautiful, however the way Sally Mann took the pictures it give me a different look. Overall her picture taking is unique and beautiful.

Tierra Miguel Farms

Going to this place was my first time. As matter of fact I did not know this place even existed. I found it interesting learning how the people count on this farm. This was a great place to learn about farming and what they have done for the community. I enjoyed the history about the farm, but really got me was that with the little tour of the area that they were farming that you could eat the vegs that were still there. Most of all this is place were a child can learning about farming and it is nice to know were there food is coming from. The interact of the kids who do show up is really nice. I never knew that along with helping the community it is a learning place. The best part for me is when the sun was setting. I was able to get better pictures and some of the plants did have unique colors.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5308767309500478018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: pointer; Which I think it came a factory from the South where they make varies different breakfast items. The waffles would be made there and then cook it there, but then they would freeze it to sale in the store. For lunch my boss took us out and I had some chicken noddle soup and then a small plate of half a rack of baby back ribs with onion rings. I think the soup is made there fresh for that day. The ribs they would also make that day. Most of the food would come from different factories that would prepare the food for them before sending it to the resturant. My food choice is well anything just as long as it is good. I am picky eater, so I will only eat foods that I know are good. I never go with something different. If the food name sound weird then I most likely will not eat it. Food and me can be a pain. I eat very little if I can, but once a while I eat more then I should or just the wrong kind of food. If it really really healthy then I would have to think about it before I eat it. I do eat healthy but not extereme. Then again I eat what is around for me at that time.

Mark Dion- In the Green River Watershed

The living art work that Mark has given to the city is great. In this that maybe some of the people would not be able to see that in nature to a close point of view. By bring this part of nature to the city is giving nature a change. However, people could still see this wonderful of nature in the woods. the most remarkable idea of this as art is interesting, because I do not see this as art, more as nature. The other hand you would not be able to see all the wonders of the tall trees from the top. Abe Sanchez gave a little lecture about the basket weaving and how it has lost it over the generations with the Native Americans. However, there are a few people who still do the basket weaving to keep the traditions. Mr. Sanchez talking about the different plants that are needed to make the baskets were nice to know. The materials do come in different seasons and others would need to come after a fire. This seem to help the plants that the basket weaving do use. The making of the basket are not easy as one would think. There is a lot of talent that a person would need to make on the baskets. One thing that I took from this that I would have never known that there are only certain plant that need to make the baskets. That it takes a long time to even think of make a basket, you would need to make sure the plants are ready to be used and it not you would have to wait before using them. The different tools that is used make have change a little, but the style and way of making the baskets are still the same. Even though I learning all the plants that are used in making the baskets, I would not be able to pick them out from all the other plants. This was the first time for me to learn about making the baskets from the native plants that the Native Americans use. I found it educational and interesting to know. I would have never guessed that there are many style of making the baskets and different ways of weaving them. Just like in the Southern California Native Americans that they weave to the right, while the Norther California Native Americans weave to the left.

An-My Le

Her picture of the military were founding interesting. Is that the way the west was really won, by destroying what was and to be where we are right now. Is it really a good place to be at.
